Spring Break 2008 Youth Missions Campout |

June 2005 - Vansant Virginia -Multiple projects were completed. A wheelchair ramp was installed, steps were built and a trailer was painted. Sealed a metal roof and shingled another roof. A puppet workshop was organized for the Appalachian children. June 2006 – Berea Kentucky – Trail maintenance and gardening was completed for Appalachian- Science in the Public Interest. The group worked at Mountain Mission Development Corporation. They power washed, painted assembled desk and sorted clothing. Several members in the group worked at the Westside Baptist Church building a new church. They did carpentry and electrical work on the building. June 2006 – Pass Christian Mississippi – Three men from Mounds answered the call to help in Project Reclaim sponsored by American Baptist Indiana/Kentucky. The project was to help the Hurricane Katrina victims. The men spent 1 week doing disaster work. April 2007 – Pass Christian Mississippi – 13 Individuals spent Spring Break aiding in the rebuilding of homes devastated from Hurricane Katrina. The group did landscaping, painting, clean up, electrical and carpentry. June 2007 – Berea Kentucky – More than 30 individuals spent 3 days working with Mountain Mission Development Corporation. They worked on enclosing a wood shop, poured a concrete walk, installed vinyl flooring and taught a class to the local women. April 2008 – Anderson Indiana – 25 youth and 7 adults worked at the Madison County Equestrian Club painting the dining room. The following day, they helped out at Mounds State Park with cleaning the Great Mounds and working in the flower beds. June 08 - Winchester Kentucky – 25 individuals worked at People Helping People/ Family Development Center which is a 90,000 plus square foot clothing factory. The facility was converted to help with education, training, adult day care, child care, wellness center and a thrift store. This center’s goal is to help give a fresh start to families and people who need help. |
